I purchased my Vixen monocular in June 2009. Optics are excellent, as advertised, and the monocular survived an accidental total water immersion. However, you can do nearly as well for one fourth the price. Also, a monocular in this price range should have a high-quality case. That provided is a poor-quality cinch affair that is impossible to close. This is not acceptable. The monocular needs a high quality nylon case with a velcro closure.

I was looking for a scope for my AR for longer targets. I am currently using a TA01 ACOG – the 4x doesn’t cut it for me at long range and I liked the idea of a BDC reticle for three gun matches.
I also purchased the Nikon -20 MOA mount and intstalled the scope on one of my ARs that consistently shoots 1 MOA or less groups.
At the range, I shot some 25 yard groups at 2x, 4x, and 8x. The groups expanded as I raised the power on the scope. This seems backwards to me.
At 100 yards, the 4x group was reasonable, maybe 2-3 MOA. But the real surprise was the 8x setting – I could only get 7-8 MOA using the 8x magnification. To be sure that there was nothing wrong with the combo rifle / scope, I placed the same scope on another rifle with SUB MOA performance and got the same results. The ammo was handloaded by a perfectionist buddy of mine and I can shoot a 0.5 MOA with the ammo and an ACOG at 100 yards.
Bottom line, shooting this scope beyond 100 yards would not be an option at the 8x setting and you can forget about using the BDC if the 8x cant even group 1-2 MOA at 100 yards.
I called Nikon and was on hold for over an hour. I sent them an email and they agreed to respond in an hour, and they never called back or emailed me. So, IMHO, their support was not good. I also sent them photos of the groups and specific information how my tests were done.
I returned the scope and I am back in the hunt for a 2-8 or 2.5-10 scope.
It’s too bad – the price point is right and the optics were good, but the scope could not shoot a tight group – period. Maybe it is just early production issues, but not getting a call back from them was the final nail.

This scope is clear, bright and sharp. The turrets are easily adjusted and have a positive feel. Eye relief is good. I believe, at this price, you won’t do better.

I bought this scope and matching mount when they first came out for one of my AR’s and let me tell you I could not be more pleased. I have since bought 2 more of these.1 for a heavy barrel .223 and one for a carbine type .223 that I would have never shot past 200 yards, now it is a serious long range rifle. I have turned over a dozen folks on to this M-223 line of scope and mounts as well and they are all very happy.

Do not, under any circumstance, buy a BSA scope. Ever. Their quality is abysmal and their customer service is [...]. I bought this scope in Jan 2009 and it broke in July 2009 after less than 200 rounds of .223 being shot. [...] [...]. [...]. You’ll find the comments run about 10:1 against. Do as I should have done and buy a quality scope from Leupold, Nikon, etc. BSA is JUNK.
